What besides flakes can I safely feed my goldfish?

Asked by JCS (250points) April 12th, 2007
I have a goldfish and every day,for every meal, my goldfish eats the same goldfish flakes. Would it harm my goldfish if every now and then I threw small pieces of human food in the tank? What could I safely feed him/her? Bread crumbs? A pea? Meat?

I think that it's fine...you can feed fish food such as frozen peas, lettuce, corn, they love live plants from the pet store or freezed dried shrimp.

Feed them flakes and only flakes. And DO NOT OVERFEED THEM! I thought this was an urban legend, and set out to prove it a couple years back. Not a myth: http://alltooflat.com/pranks/myths/fish
