I need help writing my resume?

Asked by Rememberme (661points) January 26th, 2011

I am writing my resume to try to get a job at my university as an academic adviser. My current job is working at on off campus bookstore as a “retail Clerk” or “employee”. What do you think is a better way to describe my job. I do everything in the store from shipping online orders to helping costomers

Assistant Manager or Associate Manager, maybe? You might also do a Google search for retail titles and pick one that comes near describing your job. But don’t get hung up on the title—put your energy into describing every aspect of your job so that an interviewer can see how that might fulfill his needs. Prospective employers will be more interested in your experience than your title.

Recently this related question was asked and some of the links down in the thread are amazing. Maybe they can help you too.

What qualifies you to be an academic advisor? Why would you be good at it?

Your resume needs to answer those two questions.
