When sending in a resume via email do I paste the cover letter in the email body or send it as an attachment?

And if it is an attachment what do I say in the actual email?

I would say that if you have a nice letter head, it would be a good idea to attach it. Otherwise, I would just embed it in the e-mail. Just be careful to not be redundant.
