How long to boil Kielbasa?

Asked by MaekoPoisoning (401points) March 9th, 2011

How long should I boil this kielbasa for? It’s a Carolina Pride Smoked kielbasa from the local super market… so it’s not raw. Would it be hot all the way through as soon as the water boils?

I would give it five minutes or so after the water boils.

no, it will take about 5–10 minutes. Don’t forget to poke a couple small holes in the casing so it doesn’t burst. I usually cut mine into serving size portions and then either grill or fry them.

@MaekoPoisoning In our home we boil it for about a ½ hour so it’s nice and tender…sometimes even leave it at a simmer for longer.

I cook Polish sausage about once a week; I love it. I’ve never even heard of boiling it.

@SpatzieLover Yes I grill it, sometimes on charcoal and sometimes on the electric non-smoking indoor grill. I also fry it sometimes or cut it and cook with veggies or in casseroles.

Another good way to cook it is to put it in a covered fry pan pour in a can of beer and let it steam.

I cook it on a grill, or on a skillet, chop it up into cubes. Then i throw some scrambled eggs in there, after that i turn the heat down, and put shredded cheese on top, let it melt. then i wrap them up in tortillas and add salsa. paired with fresh squeezed orange juice. I usually eat 2 or 3 in a sitting. mmmmm
