Where are all these so-called paid bloggers?

And how did they get to where they are? The Huffington Post pays only its most prestigious writers, and sites like Slate or Salon are really just online news magazines—the writers there are indistinguishable in qualification and quality from the writers at a place like The Atlantic.

So where are all of these paid bloggers I keep hearing about, and how did they come to start getting paid?
