When you create a recipe that is super outstanding, do you share it or do you keep it a secret?

While we were growing up, one of our neighbors was German. She made THE most astounding bread. After I grew up and got married, I went to great lengths to find her and ask her for the recipe. She refused to tell me….by this time she’s probably passed on and SO many people around me will never know what I know. Sad.

Anyway, together my husband and I created something SUPER excellent and here it is:

Stuffed Portabella mushrooms ala Rick and Dutchess but mostly Dutchess:

Portabella mushrooms, stems removed.
Put a thin layer of cream cheese in the bottom of the cap.
Put on a layer of diced green onions and green peppers.
Sprinkle with garlic seasoning.
Put on a few sprinkles of Italian blend cheese.
Add slice of tomato.
Smother with Italian cheese.

Grill 15 minutes.

You have never tasted anything like it!

Knowing Fluther, I’m sure ya’ll have recipes very similar, but adding the cream cheese sure gave it another dimension. We served it to my step daughter and her new boyfriend. He was unsure at first because, as we found out later, he doesn’t like mushrooms! However, he actually proclaimed it as the best thing he’d ever tasted and said, please, next time, could he have two!

Yay. : )

PS…you can NOT take this dish to one of JLeslie’s dinner parties! I wonder how it’s going for her…
