Are there any good, white label, hosted solutions that will allow my users to upload videos to my community site?

Asked by Tintels (123points) July 27th, 2011

The solutions would need to support multiple input video codecs and containers and provide a solid player for on my site, For the user it would be just like my site offers its own video uploading and playback platform.

The pricing should based on actual usage. I am aware of the alternative of using embedded Youtube or Vimeo clips..

I have a idea and it would help to see your site. And what is your level of knowledge? Do you know how to work with a database such as MySQL?

Zencoder has an API that would probably allow everything you’re looking for, if I’m understanding you correctly.

As far as the player, it may need to be a separate consideration if you’re not willing to go with a service like Vimeo.

I like VideoJS as a starting point and found this article on building an HTML5 based video player helpful. The current trend seems to be some mix of HTML5 and Flash with detection for which is supported and the other as fallback. You can start with either as the “default”.
