How do you have your jewelry stored so that it's accessible and yet easy to view and choose?

I have a problem with storing my jewelry. I have drawers of little cardboard boxes from department stores. It’s hard to view the jewelry, time consuming to open each box and see what’s in it, and view the jewelry to see what I have without taking a lot of time to pick and put it on. The little boxes take up a lot of space.

How is your jewelry stored so that you can view it all, choose it and yet keep it safely?
