How often each day do you greet/acknowledge the members of your household?

Obviously it’s customary to say “Good morning” when you first run into the others of your household each day. Also, when you come home from work or school it’s generally common to say “Hi” again to those you live with. Beyond that though, how often do you greet your housemates?

The reason I ask is my father will make a point of saying “Hi” every single time we cross paths – even if it’s only been 15 minutes since we last interacted. At the end of the average day he has greeted me sometimes upwards of twenty times, and I find it incredibly creepy.

I want to make it clear that the greetings are not the extent of our communication. If we talk for an hour straight, and then I leave his room, he will still say “Hi” the next time he comes out – even if it’s only a few minutes later.

How often do you say “Hi” to those you live with?
