What's up with the color on my monitor?

Asked by silky1 (1510points) November 3rd, 2011

The color seems faded. I tried all the usual fix it techniques as far as re adjusting the monitor but I can’t get it back to the original vibrant colors. It s a older big model. Do you think it’s about to go on me?

You should let someone take a look at it, who knows it might last for a long time.

@bobby78 Any CRT nowaday is at least 6 years old. Seriously people, upgrade.

I’m going to upgrade when I can, but this is what I have to work with for now.

CRT, LCD, plasma.. they all lose their color quality over time, that’s just how it is.

Depending on what you use the monitor for, CRT is better than LCD in a few key areas. They offer better (truer) color range, higher refresh rates & because there are no pixels, the images ‘scan’ across the screen instead of pixel to pixel, which results in a much smoother motion.

It is usually industry professionals or extreme gamers who still opt for the CRT. The downsides to CRT are that they are much larger than their LCD counterparts & they require more energy to run.
