Do you know of any free websites that reach a large audience and allow advertising?

Asked by Mariah (25883points) November 26th, 2011

I’m trying so hard to make my Etsy jewelry shop successful, but business is slow and I think it’s because I’m just not getting enough traffic.

I know what I would have done in the past. I used to use Livejournal and there are groups on there specifically for advertising small businesses. “Spam” was allowed and even encouraged. But unfortunately, hardly anyone uses Livejournal anymore.

Do you know of any active websites that might offer a similar outlet? I have a Facebook and a Twitter page for my store, but I don’t know how to get followers on there either. Any suggestions?

You might try http://www.reddit.com/r/somethingimade/ if you are actually making the jewelry.

@johnpowell I am! Thanks so much, didn’t know there was a subreddit for that.

Speaking of reddit, their ad spaces start at around $10. It may not be free, but I think it’s a small price to pay for millions of unique impressions on a daily basis that they can deliver.

@sinscriven Good point, but also mostly male…possibly useful for the holiday season but not any other time (my shop is a jewelry shop).
