Can you explain how homeostasis works in a couple easy steps?

Feel free to be as detailed as possible. Perhaps citing with numbers?

1. brain is charge…
2. blah blah balh
3. its getting good..

I understand that homeostasis is in charge of keeping all temperatures in an orderly fashion, but is it also in charge of giving you cravings for water, sleep, etc?

So I just read part of the wikipedia article so I might not know what I’m talking about. Still:

In general the brain isn’t necessarily in charge. Part of homeostasis is chemical and life seems to be a process with several layers of homeostasis. Homeostasis is the name given to the processes that maintain the state of a system. In a single human being homeostasis is responsible for pretty much everything except the reproductive system.
