How do I get my answer to post AFTER I've logged in?

Asked by Buttonstc (27605points) January 14th, 2012 from iPhone

Since there is no direct contact button to ask the Mods on the iPhone version I must resort to Meta and hope for the best since that’s what I must use to ask this.

I answered a Q while browsing thru Fluther on my Tablet. I didn’t realize that I was logged off (since I DID NOT LOG OFF the last time i was here) until that notice came up.

It specifically states “Your answer will be saved while you log in”. So I clicked on the word login and dutifully complied expecting to be returned to my answer afterwards so I could then post it.

But that didn’t happen. It just returned me to the regular site page. So now I’m caught in this stupid endless loop.

The only way I can get back to my answer is by backspacing till I get back to it. But then I’m back on a page where I’m not logged in. So if I click on the login button and go thru the whole nonsense all over again I STILL don’t get returned to where I can post my answer.

Obviously if I refresh the page WITHOUT posting my answer it will DISAPPEAR. But I can’t post the answer from that page because (according to THAT PAGE) I’m not logged in yet.

I actually believed it when it said that it would save my answer while I logged in. But if i cant get to an updated page where i can post it, how does that do any good. Why offer false hope?

If I have to to through the hassle of retyping it anyway, why not just say so to begin with??

And how do I stop Fluther from logging me out in the first place ?? REALLY MAJOR ANNOYING.

I can’t keep my tablet sitting on that original page forever so hopefully someone has a sensible answer to get me out of this endless loop.

Obviously I had to resort to typing this Q on my iPhone.

Does all of this even make sense?

Go back to the answer. Copy it. Log out. Log back in. Go back to the question by finding the question (not using the back key). Paste your answer.

It should take.

If I knew how to copy/paste in Android, that’s exactly what I would do.

Unfortunately, I’ve had my hands full just stumbling around in an intrface so totally different from IOS that I haven’t gotten to tackling c/p yet.

I know I SHOULD be able to copy/paste (and if I were on a computer, no prob) but am I so wrong to think that the Fluther system should keep it’s promises?

I guess so. It hasn’t been a good night nor a good few weeks. I’m ready to toss this thing out the window :)

It worked for me in Safari on OS X. After I logged in the answer was filled in. I tried it on iOS too and the answer box doesn’t even show up.

So both work for me as expected. My hunch is that your browser is messed up and Fluther is working as intended. I believe they they are using Javascript to send what you type to the server to be saved and then it pulls that back down or they are hiding it in the url of the join and login links.

I’m sure you have given up by now but your browser/device is the likely culprit here.

I know this has happened to someone else, too, though it’s been a long time since I’ve seen anyone bring it up. I’m sorry it happened to you… it must be incredibly frustrating!
