Can you suggest some games for me to try for my xbox 360?

Asked by KatawaGrey (21483points) February 7th, 2012

I’ve just gotten an xbox 360 and I already have a few games for it: Left 4 Dead 1 & 2, Bioshock 1 & 2, Blur and Mass Effect. I haven’t tried Mass Effect yet, but I plan on playing it today to see how I like it. I got it because it was highly suggested by multiple friends.

Except for a few games, my xbox-having friends seem to disagree on which games I should try, so I’m turning to fluther. What are some xbox games you fine people think I should try?

I used to have one… my favs on the 360 were Left 4 Dead (the original), the Armored Core 4 games (I think 5 is almost out now), and Bioshock. I had Arkham Asylum on the PS3 later on (I believe it’s available on the 360), that game was amazing.

If you like Bioshock you’ll probably like Rage. Deus Ex Human Revolution is good as well.

Skyrim. And Skyrim.

You could try subscribing to Gamefly, which is basically Netflix for video games. Also if you have a Gamestop nearby, their policy allows you to purchase used games and return them within 7 days if you don’t like them, so it’s pretty much a free rental.

Suggesting games is tough when you don’t know the person’s taste. Mass Effect is unique, the decisions you make in the first game will effect what happens in the 2nd game (and 3rd which is soon to come out) Try Splinter Cell – Double Agent or the more recent Splinter Cell: Conviction if you think you’ll like stealth and sneaky gameplay. Good open world/sandbox games would include GTA IV, Saints Row the Third, Red Dead Redemption.

Also consider XBLA – Xbox Live Arcade, there’s many titles ranging from party games to strategy to racing, you’ll no doubt find something you’ll like.

I love sports games. MLB, Madden, and NBA 2ks are all pretty clutch. I even got my non sports fan friend addicted to Madden just because it’s so cool to carry a team a whole season, gain stats, gain attributes, break records, create your own guy that sort of customizable thing. All this coming from a former Pokemon Master video gamer and card gamer.

If you like racing games, get Dirt 3. It’s got an excellent handling model and isn’t as simulation based as something like Forza. Otherwise, lots of good suggestions here. Saints Row 3 is a lot of fun, in the most over the top way, Deus Ex: Human Revolution is a sequel to one of the best games of all time, and Skyrim will eat your life away, dungeon by dungeon.

And if you’re looking at xbla games, buy Bastion. I can’t recommend that game enough.

Three words, Modern Warfare Three. It’s like crack to a crackhead! (although I have no idea what crack is like lol)

Seems you like shooters and war games, in that case, then definitely Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2. They each share elements of a shooter and an RPG.

Personally, I’m more into adventure/puzzle and RPG games like (at the moment) Portal and Heavy Rain and Oblivion and Skyrim.

Portal and Portal 2 are a puzzle games where you have to make it through a test lab run by a murderous AI with a gun that shoots inter-dimensional holes in walls to get from point A to point B without dying in between.

Heavy Rain is a murder mystery with multiple endings depending on whether or not you catch the serial killer and who dies during the game. Yes, your characters can die, and there’s no “game over, reload last save;” the game continues blithely along to whatever ending ensues.

Oblivion and Skyrim are “sword and sorcery” role playing games in an open world that you can explore freely with very few clues. You have to figure out what you need to do and where to go. These games don’t lead you by the hand to the ending.

@HungryGuy Heavy Rain is PS3 only, unfortunately. Alan Wake would be a good choice, though, along those lines.

@DeanV – Is it? I have both systems (but I don’t have a WII), so I’m not always aware what’s exclusive to one or the other. Sorry :-/

Skyrim, GTA IV, Bioshock, Bioshock II, Rock Band (in all it’s incarnations), and too many XBLA downloads to name.

I LOVE Bioshock 1 & 2

Other than that, I mostly play Red Dead Redemption. . . and by mostly, I mean that’s all I play nowadays.

Catherine, Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, Saints Row 2.
