Best type of projector for reverse projection on an outdoor stage?

Does anyone have experience with reverse projectors (i think that is the classification) and the use of mesh netting(like mosquito netting) for the screen? I would love feedback, as I am creating a set design for an outdoor stage – having the need for still images (photographs) as the backdrop, while incorporating the netting when no image is necessary. This is an non-profit youth theatre group – hence a small budget with loads of creativity.
