If you are a cancer survivor, what's a short version of your story?

Asked by gailcalled (54644points) October 13th, 2012

I was diagnosed with breast cancer with stage II node involvement in 1996. I had surgery, chemo, radiation and five years of tamoxifin. Once I got my bearings, I changed my eating habits, got religious about exercise, learned how to meditate and stay calm and finally, and best of all, adopted a cat.

So I have been in remission for 16 years.

That’s long enough to forget about the cancer and concentrate on osteoarthritic knees.

Well…this doesn’t REALLY count, but, since nobody else has answered as of yet. .....

I had a cancerous mole removed from my stomach about 15 years ago that had not metastisized ( sp? )
. I was kept on red alert for any reformation of the mole or suspicious tissue, with another 6 month biopsy that was clean. I still watch the spot, but, so far, so good.

(The question went to editing, where it sat overnight, because I misspelled “survivor. I have hopes for today’s mail.)
