Why is my dog all of a sudden pooping on my boyfriends stuff?

Asked by 1footballchick (19points) April 9th, 2013

My dog loves my boyfriend, but for the past week, she’s been pooping and peeing on his bath towels or his clothes if he makes the mistake of leaving them around. We just moved to a new place a month ago, and she seemed like she had settled in just fine. She’s never exhibited this behavior before with him or anyone else, so I don’t know if she’s looking for attention? And if so, from me? Or from him?. I don’t know what to do. It’s about to break up my relationship, so I need help fast!

Tell him to hang up his clothes, problem solved. And personally, if I had a boyfriend who was threatening to leave me because my dog was having a problem, I would get rid of him fast. His dedication to you and the relationship must not be too deeply invested.

Has your usual routine of walks, trips outside changed since you have moved? I had a dog who when I moved to a new place, lived in the car for almost 3 months. She refused to come into the house even though the other dogs moved right in. She ate in the car, went for a walk and then returned to the car. This was obviously not an ideal solution, but I was in an area where it was possible, it was summer, she was an old dog so that is what I did. Point being for an older dog a change of venue can be difficult. I believe in letting a dog know they are doing wrong, even after the fact. When the dog misbehaves, show it the crime scene and give it a verbal dressing down, then take it outside. Is it desexed, male or female? Have you eliminated the possibility of a physical/medical problem? If so, use common sense in correcting the problem.

The dog is exhibiting some anxiety at the change. Did your boyfriend live with you before? If not, she may be protesting her change in status to Number three.

Or she may just be anxious about the move itself.

Give her lots of attention and lots of exercise. Make sure for the short term that all your boyfriend’s things are picked up off the floor.

Why are his clothes and towels on the floor? Pick them up – problem solved.

Are you taking the dog out enough? If a dog’s gotta go, she’s gonna go.

She might just be anxious about the move.

You may want to see a vet just to make sure she’s healthy.

It’s an omen. haha
Years ago my Siamese cat crapped on my exes pillow one night and then, peed on his chest. Had I listened to that cat I would have spared myself a bad marriage choice. lol

Oaky…seriously….I agree with @marinelife and @livelaughlove21

Uhhh… I am no dog whisperer, but something is amiss. First off, have boyfriend pick up after himself. It may be that the dog recognizes the boyfriend is undisciplined, and is taking sides.

One more thing, I would have a deeper look at the relationships at work. Dogs don’t just leave a man a poopie for no reason.
