How can you divide an MP4 file?

I have an MP4 file but I only want the first part of it. Is there any software that allows me to end the file at a place of my choosing or am I stuck with the entire video?

You can do this with Windows Movie Maker, which should be installed on your machine if you have Windows. If you have a Mac, then iMovie would be able to do it I assume.

On a Mac the normal Quicktime Player will do it too. Just select Edit->Trim.
