How long is the typical dry spell for a man? (Details inside) (possibly NSFW).

Asked by talljasperman (21916points) September 7th, 2013

(It’s been 12 years since I’ve had a date because I shared a one bedroom apartment with my mom and I wasn’t allowed to entertain guests not even for D&D ).
Now I am living in a boarding house and still not allowed guests… It might take me forever to get an apartment to my self but I’m slowly saving money and I could save $100 a month to pay student loans ($5000). It might be till I’m 40 before I can move on from the boarding house that I live in. I have two years of philosophy and I’ve lived with family till 35 and I am living in a boarding house for countless years (the longest resident is 8 years). How about you? What is the longest dry spell that you’ve had? Also when is the first time that you lived on your own? Working for A&W sounds really good and I am waiting for an interview. $10.91 a hour for being a cook sounds great, and if I can snack on a couple extra Teen burgers for lunch then wow. Also I am thinking going into politics for fun or even a job to pay the bills.

I don’t feel comfortable saying after hearing your hardships. I’m sorry to hear that, Talljasperman. I hope you get your fix soon :)

This is quite typical for someone who may have a social/neurological disorder.

Are you desiring a relationship? Or do you find you lean asexual? How are you currently going about meeting people?

As for the details section of this question:

Job- I personally think it’s unwise to take on a social job if you’re not typically social. Since politics is a rather social field, maybe you’d consider a job in the political field instead of trying your hand as a politician.

Apartment- Since you have a plan to save up, I’d continue chipping away at that goal.

You may want to look into adult services. Possibly you could meet people via a support or social group.

I’m just too picky… I want the superhero girlfriend my own Mary Jane Watson/Sailor Jupiter/Captain Marvel. I got burned in a relationship 12 years ago and I have a look to don’t touch approach to talking to acquaintances. The last time I even considered dating someone I asked her to propose and she said that she likes an old fashioned man… then went off to date several men one after the other.

I will see if I can find a toastmasters in Red Deer.

Ok look, I’ve said this a million times, but this time you get details.

Rather than trying to find the right person, consider instead trying to become the right person.

The idea is that during the dry spell, to get your own game on so good that when little miss superhero does come along, that you’ll be ready for her, and she will recognize you as the big mister superhero of her dreams. But if you don’t prepare for her now, then when she does arrive, she won’t recognize you.

@RealEyesRealizeRealLies Great answer. Thank you. Now I feel much better taking care of myself.

Yes @talljasperman. The world would be a much better experience if we all just made a little more effort to take care of ourselves first. Now that you and me are doing our part, perhaps the rest of the fluther slackers will follow suit. Then we infect the world. Then little miss superhero won’t be able to resist you. There will no doubt be a dozen little miss superheros all fighting over you. Prepare yourself. This could get messy.

You’ll be ok bud just stick with your escape plan and focus on bettering yourself with your time. We’ve all had “dry spells” and they all end at some point. Just make the most of your time and don’t dwell on it.

I have my own apartment and am feathering my nest. Learning domestic skills and am getting progress with eating wholesome delicious food. Buying food and clothing instead of wasting $250 a month on frivolous video games and books that I wouldn’t read.
