People who are celebrating Christmas: Are you ready?

I asked a similar question back in 2011, which does not surprise me because every year I am not ready for Christmas. Part of it is that I work full time, and am a single mother, but even before I had a child, I was never ready for Christmas. I really think it’s due to working and being out of the house 10–12 hours a day and having limited days off.

In magazines we see “the perfect Christmas” with families writing cards by the fireplace, beautifully wrapped presents under the tree, the house decorated with incredible decorations, holiday food artfully arranged on a buffet table, the list goes on and on and it’s never what mine looks like. My presents are wrapped on my bed, on the day I am going to see the recipient. Very rarely do I bake anything. My cards are done at work, usually at the last minute so I am lucky if they arrive by Christmas.
