Sentient automatons create one of their own who is dangerous, do humans have the right to destroy it for their own safety?

Somewhere in a future far, far off, two sentient automatons decide to create a being as them. However, this new automaton created not by human hands, develops the mindset that humans are dangerous and becoming a blight on the planet and should be dealt with. Said automaton for all the rhetoric has never acted on its thoughts. Humans fearing it will want to eliminate it if its creators won’t. Should the humans have the right to for their safety even if the machine is sentient, or should they wait until something actually happens, then do something; if they still can?
