Is there any way to get messages now on FB without downloading their new message app?

I was going to download the new FB message app, since it seems like we’re all forced to, as there’s no other way to retrieve messages on the phone without it. However, you need to provide a credit card number, enable AT&T billing, redeem a gift card or add Pay Pal. I don’t want to do any of those.

Right now, the only way I can view messages or pm people on FB is from my computer (home computer, work computer). It’s somewhat inconvenient. Not terribly, but somewhat.

Is there any way to get messages now without downloading the new FB message app?
