What is the minimum cost to own one , or the minimum share, of each or the TSX and/or DOW stocks?

So one can get one vote on each stock.

For the Dow Jones Industrial Average, as of today’s close, $2,629.62 US, for one share of each component. Plus brokerage commissions, totaling about $270 for 30 transactions.

It would have been about $600 more before AAPL split 7 for 1.

I imagine that @zenvelo has the math right.

From an investing approach, however, it would make no sense at all to invest your money this way. The commissions (as a percentage of cost) would be ridiculously high – around 10% – compared to the potential return.

If you really want to have access to the whole of the Dow’s components, you would be far better off buying shares in an Index fund (Vanguard, for example) or in one of the myriad of ETFs that deals with the Dow or TSX.

@elbanditoroso Yes, he could buy shares in DIA, the Dow Index ETF, but @talljasperman isn’t asking about investing, but about being able to cast a vote in each shareholder election.
