Have you ever had someone make assumptions about you just because you are _______________?

It doesn’t have to be any thing earth shattering.

I need a new pad and some screws for my Black and Decker palm sander. I called Sears and spoke with a gal there.
She said, “I need a model number.”
I said, “Well, I have the schematic pulled up already so….”
She goes, “Oh! Then you have part numbers for me!”
I said, “I sure do.”
Then I explained that I used to own a mower shop and did this kind of thing all day long.
She said, “Well, you got it goin’ on then!”
I said, “Yes I do.” ;)

We compared a couple of war stories. More than once a man came in to the shop needing a part. I’d ask for the model number.
He would get all impatient with me for being such an air head, and say “They’re all the same! You don’t need a model number! Let me talk to a man!”
So I’d call Rick up front…and whadda you know, Rick would ask for the model number.
Not one guy ever apologized to me, either.

The gal at Sears said she gets the same thing. Said sometimes men will come in and say, “Let me talk to a man!”
She says, “Do you want to talk to a man, or to someone who knows what they’re doing?”

We laughed and laughed.
