Do you think world has become too much competitive?

Competition starts right from the childhood and doesn’t seem to end till you’re retired. Do you think contests like cute baby or those on similar lines should exist in the first place or not?

What do you mean? Competition naturally exist because resources are limited. We have been competing with other species and among our own species for as we existed as a species.

Contests don’t always entail competition. Yes, competition might happen in the process, but the purpose about such contest is to encourge people with similar interests (sometimes rare interests/activities that need to be protected) to keep on participating and improving what they’re good at or what they possessed.

Cute baby contests don’t always mean they wish show that one baby is better (much cuter) than the others, it’s mostly likely done to exhibits a group of babies that will attracts crowds who have interests in such thing, as such, people with similar interests could gather in one place and this will provide a good promotional ground for corporations and other businesses. Contests should exists so long as people derive satisfaction in their participation, and most importantly, it serves financial purpose.

Competition is part of the human construct, part of the psychology that makes us who we are. Without it, we could never survive.
But, at least here in the United States IMHO, we have become too competitive. To the point where we forsake all others. Friends, enemies; even family.
So, to answer your question in generally terms, I would say no. No more than usual or what would or should be required.
