How safe is the pwnage tool?

no because I’m asking for detailed instructions and the overall safety. But I’d also like to ask that if I do jailbreak my iPod, and if I restore it, will it restore to 2.0 firmware with the app store and mail, notes, etc?

You can’t break an iPod by messing with software! Just do a restore if you run into a problem.
