Have you ever used a deshedding brush on your pet?

I learned a new word today, “Furmination.” An actual groomer used it. It’s where you use a special brush to groom out the dog’s (or cat’s) undercoat which is what sheds.
Some of the brushes that I’ve seen show that that after every swiped you click a button to drop the fur you just combed out, and that would be very convenient.
However, there is a pretty drastic price difference in the brushes so I need to know why that is.
Does any one here have any experience with deshedding brushes? What kind of brush would you recommend, and were you happy with the results?
