How is it that a person doesn't know that an eclipse cannot be 'rescheduled'?

Is this sort of comment (from the woman) indicative of poor education? Obliviousness to the world? Flat-earth religious upbringing?

How does someone get to be a mother of school-age children with this lack of knowledge?

My art teacher said a few weeks ago, “If the eclipse happens during the day, we won’t be having class.”
