What is the actual full form of URL? Universal or Uniform?

OK… I know there are many articles about this.

But i would rather hear the answer directly.

Is it Universal or Uniform resource locater?

I always thought that it was Universal until the day my professor gave me a good talk in front of the whole class. You can only imagine how it must’ve felt…

So i need to know this once and for all..

Uniform. But I did see a reference that it used to be universal.

But uniform is the proper wordage now.
