If it's not in my PayPal account and not in my bank account...

Asked by SuperMouse (30845points) August 14th, 2008

…where is the money? I transfered money from my PayPal account to my bank account. My PayPal account shows the transaction as completed, but nothing has appeared in my checking account. Where is the money? Why the lag? In this day of lightening fast computing shouldn’t this happen concurrently?

Could my money be on that island with the lost socks and texts and Jimmy Hoffa?

To transfer money to your bank account they say that it can take a few days. I think it’s because they just want to hold on to your money longer! I went ahead and got the pay-pal debit card. I can get the money faster and if I use it like a visa (when I have money in the account) they actually give me a little bit of money back. It didn’t cost anything so it was worth it to me.

paypal debit card. Got to love hiding under the IRS radar.

I would check your terms of service or terms & conditions on the PayPal account. The disclosures should tell you whether this is an immediate transaction. And while we have lightning fast computers, it doesn’t mean that every process will be that fast.

Contact your bank. They can usually tell you if an electronic transaction is pending before it shows up.
