Have you ever known an adult who expected, almost to the point of demanding, a gift for Christmas?

I don’t know of anyone like that in my personal circle, but apparently my DIL’s family is like that. Not only do they expect a gift, the value they place on a gift is proportionate to the cost.

My son laid some tile in his bro-in-laws bathroom last month. I don’t know how big it is, but my son is a professional and I’ll bet it was a $1,000 worth of free labor. He said that as he was laying the last tile his BIL casually said, “Would you like an idea of what to get me and Girlfriend for Christmas?” My son was just dumbfounded!

I guess the mother and father are dropping hints all over too. (A couple of years ago my son replaced the roof on their house. They paid for the shingles, but the labor was free.)

The kids are a little frustrated. They’re having a hard enough time making Christmas for their 4 kids, much less everyone else. They said they haven’t even gotten gifts for each other. My DIL said that if they don’t get her mother a gift she thinks they aren’t grateful for all The Things she’s “sacrificed” while raising them.

Blows my mind.
