Would Lenny Kravitz's rock album "Let Love Rule" have been received differently had it been published as a gospel album?

Asked by rebbel (35550points) October 5th, 2019

I was wondering about that when I was listening to the whole album, some weeks ago.
I thought some of the songs had a gospely ring to it.
Had he been ‘advertised’ as a devout Christian, who just recorded and released his first gospel album (as opposed to a rocker with a rock album), would that have done something different to how it would have been received (and ultimately to the record sales)?

Interesting question. I am not sure about sales in that genre, but plenty of people like gospel enough to buy it, I imagine.
I wonder where I put my tape of that album. That’s right, tape. :D

Hahahah… I had the tape, too.

I’ve always recognized all the god on that album and like it anyway

@tinyfaery – It’s a good one. Now I have to look for it as I need another reason to procrastinate. XD
