Can you help me find the list of FDA approved COVID19 antibody tests and their accuracy?

Asked by JLeslie (65425points) May 9th, 2020

I found out some test makers are stating they are FDA approved and they aren’t. I searched the FDA site, and did some googling, and cannot find a simple list.

Thank you for your help ahead of time.

I don’t think that such a list exists as most of the antibody testing is still in the developmental stage so not yet approved nor enough test cases to determine accuracy. I’ve been reading recently that they are doing tests on a llama antibody that appears to be promising. They are talking about doing human trial tests in the not too distant future so it’s not approved & the accuracy is still unknown. I’m not sure that I’d want to be a guinea pig for that trial!!!

From what I understand there are 8 FDA approved tests.

There is one and only one antigen test The other tests I think you are talking about is the ones for finding the COVID-19 virus in your sinuses and back of your throat.

^^Not the antigen test, I’m asking about the antibody tests for past infection. Blood test.

^^Thanks for the link, that’s actually interesting information, but again I’m interested in an antibody test.

Unless, I’m really confused, antigen is when the actual infectious material. It’s when you are shedding virus. I’m interested in past infection and the body showing antibodies/immunity.

Am I missing something?
