I have not heard of it before this.

Just looking at the page makes me really uncomfortable, and the name screams of Nationalism. Has a feel of “Deutschland Uber Alles”. Connotatively, “tribalism” evokes a connection with persons of color.
And there is only one type of person represented here.

And now I’ll have to clear my cache so this doesn’t pop up everywhere. Damn.

I would label this as a cleverly crafted neo-Nazi recruitment page.

@canidmajor I immediately was uneasy with the nationalistic sounding name, but I assume that’s on purpose to attract Republicans who don’t understand why nationalism historically is horrific.

Do you even know who Kinzinger is? He’s one of the few Republicans to stand up against Trump, to denounce the January 6th attack on the Capitol immediately.

His message is to promote country over party, to move Republicans away from blind obedience to the party, it’s not country over everything else in your life. Still, the name is unnerving to me, but I think if he can move some Republicans away from the radical fringe (many of them don’t even know they are radical) that would be a move in a good direction in my mind.

He’s trying to give them an off ramp to save face. I’m sure it’s partly for his own political gain also no doubt.

I don’t have a strong opinion about whether this campaign will have a positive effect in the end, but your exasperation seems unwarranted. I told you the name before you clicked on anything. You didn’t have to click. It’s no different than any other typical political website.

To say it’s Neo-Nazi recruitment is to be completely unaware of Kinzinger.

They got you.

JLeslie's avatar

@canidmajor No one has me. What are you talking about? I’m not contributing or voting for him nor am I a Republican. It’s like you never listen to one thing I write about politics.

@canidmajor I recommend you not accuse Jewish people of not understanding the horrific nature of nationalism and where it can lead. It’s insulting and offensive. I’m not just talking about me, this is advice for you in general. It’s the same as telling a Black person they don’t understand slavery and segregation. Would you say to a Black person “they got you” in any conversation on fluther?

I recommend you not justify and soft sell fascist gaslighting.

It’s just another conservative PAC.

The group is a typical establishment think tank. They actually say on the website that they’re not interested in policy substance. It’s basically a group that hates Trump because he violated “norms”, but they probably agree with most of his actual political stances. The group also subtlety labels progressive policies as being part of the “political divide”. When in reality a large majority of people support single payer healthcare and taxing the ultra wealthy.

I’d never heard of it. Can’t say I completely disagree with less partisan politics and voting access for all. He essentially seems to be saying not to let another Trump take over.

elbanditoroso's avatar

What is their money source? I can’t find it. That will tell us a lot.

JLeslie's avatar

@elbanditoroso Not sure, although they want you to donate so you’ll be part of the money source. Lol. I can’t figure out if it’s just really Kinzinger alone, or an actual group of politicians heading it up or what? Did you see any other names on there? On one page of the website it talks about keeping the lunatics from winning primaries. Something like that.

I kind of agree with people above that it is the establishment part of the Republican Party trying to hold the party together, although, I do think this guy gives a shit about about the country and understands civil war isn’t going to help the US.

No I haven’t. I do not do organizational support based on WebSites advertising either.
My contributions and my efforts based are through non-internet based organizations.

No, and I don’t give money willingly to politicians.

kritiper's avatar

It sounds like a Tea Party web site.

Without looking at the link, which I haven’t, I assumed it was about Country Music pride.

Nobody got @JLeslie. Kinzinger is the real deal. He’s anti-Trump and not afraid to say so. Not many Republicans have his courage.

Don’t judge a book by its cover.

rockfan's avatar

How is he the real deal? He voted 90% with Trump. He just dislikes that Trump is offensive and a loud mouth. Crediting Kinzinger for acknowledging the fact that Joe Biden didn’t steal the election and opposing an attempted insurrection, is an incredibly low bar to be proud of.

Kinzinger voted against the Equality Act, opposed the Affordable Care Act and praised Donald Trump’s assassination of Soleimani, which is a war crime. If Kinzinger ever became President, I think he’d do just as much damage to the U.S. as Trump.

@rockfan If it’s realistic to assume Republicans will continue to win some elections do you want another Trump? Marjorie Taylor Greene? Democrats (not accusing you of this) liked to think that totally extreme whacko Republican candidates were/are good competition, because of course the Democrat would win in that competition. Wrong! It’s better to have semi sane, some integrity, political representatives, even if they are from the other party.

One example, I live in a red county, I could not be more complimentary to the vaccine roll out and continued messaging, availability, and encouragement in my county to get vaccinated. The Republicans in charge of health in my county are not on the fringe, thankfully.

Maryland has a Republican Governor. He has been a leader in vaccinations and mask wearing. He works with the Democrats, he is in a blue state. Mitt Romney was a Republican governor in a blue state and even though I disagree with much of his politics I’m disappointed how he changed when he ran for national office. but he will go against the Republican party when something is blatantly destructive. Lesser of evils so to speak.
