Is Trump celebrating now that the House passed a bill with no money for Ukraine?

Asked by mazingerz88 (28821points) September 30th, 2023 from iPhone

One might think this is his payback to Ukraine for not getting the Biden investigation that he wanted. Am I wrong?

I don’t know it seems most Rep/cons think , Putin should just take Ukraine, so yeah maybe it’s payback like you said.

Temporary. Funding will be added back. Senate is still at work.

^^Oh good to know. Thanks.

I think Trump is hoping the GOP House can send him money for his lawyers !

SQUEEKY2's avatar

Why would the Don Father even care about that @Tropical_Willie he never pays his lawyers anyways.

Tropical_Willie's avatar

The latest group of lawyers are asking for UP-FRONT money !

SQUEEKY2's avatar

That would make sense when dealing with the Don Father.

If he is celebrating, it’s not because of some “payback”. He never asked them to look into Biden. He used Biden as an example of corruption from our side in Ukraine. Go back and read the phone transcript.

But we have spent over $76B in just a couple years, sending aid to Ukraine. Meanwhile we still have major crises here at home that could use some funding and which aren’t getting it. Anyone that thinks this stop-gap measure is a win is fooling themselves. The entire scenario will happen over and over and over again until our government can come to terms with fiscal responsibility. We blow WAY too much money on boondoggles and pork projects.

@SQUEEKY2 That’s not true, but sometimes you have to help yourself before you can help others. We’ve done our part. You don’t live here and see $8 cauliflower and hungry children.

seawulf575's avatar

@KNOWITALL And while we send $76B to Ukraine we can only offer the families in Maui that lost everything $700? Seems disproportionate. But hey, those from Maui are US Citizens so why worry about them, right? Seems to be the focus of the Dems these days.

KNOWITALL's avatar

@seawulf575 I read today that not funding Ukraine is helping Putin and and China. Dems appear to have zero concern for the American people. Hell even Trump sent us checks to help during Covid and it’s worse now.

I’m quite amused how some people think that not sending Ukraine arms built in the US is good for the American people. Arms companies tend to be in Republican states, so this simultaneously negatively effects the wellbeing of Republicans, moving government money away from those states, while at the same time making Republicans wet themselves at how this is a victory from Trump. Hilarious.

The other problem with not helping Ukraine is that if Putin wins over Ukraine, and then is awash with their resources, their food, their land, their everything, which of course would then be part of Russia, the next is he’s going after Poland or any number of small European countries, and where will he stop? No bueno.

KNOWITALL's avatar

@Lightlyseared Texas, Florida and California, actually. You are correct that the funding for Ukraine directly funds jobs and manufacturing here at home.

I believe most people’s support of Ukraine is waning however.

LifeQuestioner's avatar

@jca2 and if he does go after Poland, then we do have a war because Poland is part of NATO.

SQUEEKY2's avatar

So what is the answer @KNOWITALL hand it to him?
Putin wont stop at just Ukraine.

KNOWITALL's avatar

@SQUEEKY2 We need Putin to shut up and leave Ukraine alone so we can recover. That’s why some believe its pre-election year strategy by Trump/Putin. Blatant election interference this time. Or is it?

jca2's avatar

@LifeQuestioner Of course, and we’d like to prevent any of that from happening, right?

SQUEEKY2's avatar

@KNOWITALL You know Putin isn’t going to do that, and left unchecked he isn’t going to stop at Ukraine ,the us chose to be the world’s hall monitor now you have to see it through.

seawulf575's avatar

@SQUEEKY2 That is some major fear-mongering. Putin is struggling with Ukraine and Ukraine isn’t NATO. If he were to follow up with an attempt at invading a NATO country like Poland he would likely get his butt handed to him.

KNOWITALL's avatar

I think you’re both right.

With great power comes great responsibility.

Tropical_Willie's avatar

Putin looking at Poland next and many more countries in Eastern Europe.

He will not stop, he wants to control all the old Communist countries !
