Was I hallucinating?

I woke up a little before 5 this morning, sat up, yawned and stretched. It was pitch black in the room but I could feel my dog, Cato, against my legs.
I leaned over and scratched and banged on him, softly saying “Good morning!”
Then my black cat, Vanta, showed up on the bed, bumping Cato with her nose and meowing.
I reached out to scratch her…and recoiled. Her short black hair was all stiff and spiky, like she’d rolled in the mud and it dried.
It was really, really dark so I couldn’t really see her…but she had white on her muzzle and a bit on her feet. Vanta has NO white anywhere.
The cat just mowed and arched when I pet it, and also banged on Cato who didn’t react.
I mumbled “Hate to tell you, this isn’t your cat, Cato!”
It was SO WEIRD and I was wide awake.
got up and went to the bathroom. I couldn’t turn on the light due to sleeping husband. When I got back mystery cat was gone….but Vanta was stretched out on the edge of the bed with her feet hanging off, staring in that direction. She’s a fighter but all she did was stare. I pet her and her fur was soft and downy like normal.
I WAS awake when it happened.
Mystery Cat enjoyed its pets, BTW.
WTH was that???
