The only difference I can think of is the fact it’s grown in a “medical lab” and/or controlled situation. And the way you use it. They have these vaporizers instead of the old fashioned way. I can’t tell you the difference in taste or “highness”.

“Medical marijuana” is about using regular old marijuana as medicine to treat a medical condition, rather than just to get high.

Interestingly, it can only decriminalize pot on a state level. If the feds find someone in possession of marijuana used for medical purposes, it’s still marijuana, and in the eyes of the Federal law, you can still do time. The only difference is that the Feds know where to find the registered medical marijuana users.

To continue what laureth said, CA has legalized medical marijuana for a while, and you can read some of the news articles on what a headache it can be. The legal distributors actually take classes on basically how to deal with it when they get raided by the feds. It’s ridiculous and, in my opinion, a waste of resources. I honestly think wasting resources like that should be criminal.

so the people that use it as medicine still get high? is that fair? lol

We have medical marijuana in California, and like luareth said, even though it is legal in the state, it is not legal under federal law. Having said that, though, I have never heard of anyone being charged and prosecuted by the Feds for medical marijuanna.
There are some glitches, while t is legal if recommended by your doctor, it is not legal to purchase it r sell it. They do have ‘marijuanna clubs’ that are set up to sell it, but most of those are currently being closed down by the state and feds The main way they tend to nail them has to do with sloppy bookkeeping when it comes to paying the taxes involved.
It is legal to grow it yourself if you have a doctor recommendation. The rules for growing vary from county to county. In general, you shouldn’t grow more than what you might reasonably use for your condition.

Medical marijuana is just more potent than others and they have a vast variety of different types at shops it just pretty much gives people the excuse to have it and smoke it legally and for stupid reasons well we all really have no reason to smoke it but still do and you don’t have to use a vaporizer although I must say those things are amazing!

I think that if there is anything we can do to ease someone’s final, pain-wracked days on earth we should. Accordingly I do not think that medical marijuana is “for stupid reasons”.

@empresspixie: I meant that people can get a club card for stupid reasons

There is a difference between having a club card and the doctor’s recommendation for medical marijuanna. Law enforcement doesn’t care much about the club cared other that the fact that it identifies you as a buyer. What they want to see is the doctor recommendation which gernerally comes in the form of a letter.

My husband is a nuerological patient at UCSF and it was recommended that he use medical marrijuanna as a way to keep from having to use so many hard core narcotics. The pot does not take his pain away but does distract him and he has been able to cut back drastically on the oxycontin and norco.
Biggest problem is that we can’t always afford it. The clubs are way to expensive and we aren’t too keen on buying it illegally.

Basp: I’m well aware of the difference I’m not saying that everybody smokes it for no reason whatsoever but to obtain a club card you have to get it through a doctor and you can say something as simple as my back hurts hell I’ve seen club advertisments that say they’ll give you one if you have asthma!!! WTF? I’ve met people that really do have use for it such as your husband

Yes, I understand what you are saying. Sorry if my message sounded as if I didn’t. I post from an iPhone and it is hard for me to proof read to make sure the tone of the message is the same as my intent.
