Did anyone buy an HDTV last year on Black Friday?

Asked by theloveprophet (347points) November 12th, 2008

If so how did it work? Did they have vouchers that they handed out before the store opened? were there boxes under the TV’s like there usually are (In the aisles)? Or were those removed and was there someone there that helped you out. If anyone could enlighten me that would be splendid :)

I didn’t get one last year but a friend of mine did. He got one from target and it was just sitting inside a shopping cart. I’m sorry that isn’t much help for your direct question, but i just wanted to share the info.

I’m actually in the market this year to get one myself. I’d say to make sure you check online first. For example, Last year I purchased a 22” monitor online for the same price I would of payed for it to stand in line all night long. I got it from BestBuy and there was a line started here at my local BB @ around 4am thanksgiving day, so those ppl missed staying home eating turkey. I however got my monitor, delivered to my home, and got to eat dinner with my family. So this year, I’m doing the same with a TV. I may just be lucky enough to do the same, if not then there is no harm done. Good Luck and maybe keep us informed if you find any “AWESOME” deals lol..

I went to Sears and got me and Sharp Aquos 46” for $1k
I just picked up a little voucher thing by the TV with a barcode on it then checked out. Then you could just go pick up the TV whenever you wanted after that.
(except when they over sell them, and you find out later when you think your set after paying for it, and have to wait a week for them to order another b/c of their mistake !!!!)
