Love crosses all boundaries?

Asked by mea05key (1812points) November 22nd, 2008

What about love between siblings? I mean that sort of Boyfriend-Girlfriend love. Is it possible and more importantly are you condone such a relationship?

My reason: This film ticks my mind and brings out a sort of feeling that I have never felt before. Search for : Boku wa Imouto ni Koi wo Suru – a japanese movie adopted from a manga.

Are you asking if we condone incest?

Love does not cross all boudaries. In the eyes of the law and societal norms, the parameters are clearly marked.

I have herd that that type of love can form, but I seriously don’t think anything would ever happen. Do not believe anything that has anything to do with anime or manga, most of it is just odd japs making perverted storeys. This being one of them I found on youtube (to prove my point) Altho this is one of the more real and not very perverted ones.

Feelings cross boundaries heedlessly. But behavior is generally curbed by tradition, rules, laws, taboos, in the interests of order.
Stories about boundary-crossing are always fascinating because they challenge our sense of order.
I personally don’t condone incest (in case that’s the question) because it would be too strenuous to live in a society that criminalizes it.
Ancient Hawaiian/Pacific Island societies required royals to marry their siblings in order to keep the family lines pure. The royals in ancient Egypt were also encouraged in this direction.
But even in these cases, regular people weren’t allowed to get sexy with family members.
Why?
You can talk about recessive bad genetic traits getting concentrated and producing kids with two heads, but I think the deeper reason to avoid family sex is that the family is the one place where we have sanctuary from sex. We need that because sex is such a driving force.
Just a thought.

I don’t belief incest is a good idea due to the genetic problems it creates in subsequent generations. If the couple doesn’t have children though, I wouldn’t really condemn it. I sure wouldn’t be involved in that type of relationship myself, but as long as the two people were consenting adults and not hurting anyone else, it’s not my business to care about or judge what they choose to do.

I believe that incest is okay between two consenting people of appropriate age, who do not (or cannot) reproduce together. I haven’t actually heard of this happening outside of fiction, though. Those people would also have a stressful load of social repercussions to deal with.

Love crosses some boundaries, not all. If love tries to cross all boundaries it stops becoming love and turns into something twisted and impure. (I am not necessarily referencing incest, just love in general, for multiple situations.)

Ever read the Flowers in the Attic series? Or seen the porno Taboo? Incest has long been fascinating in a fantasy kind of way, but in real life…probably not such a good idea.
