You’ve come to the right place. I use it all the time. Look for FAX CONSOLE.

Is your document in the system or do you need to scan it first?

Let me just say thanks for helping me, man. I don’t have an actual document to fax at the moment, but I’d love to learn how. I figure I can save a scanned document as a PDF or JPEG but what then? You say look for FAX CONSOLE. Where should I look for it? What should I expect to find after I find it?

Thanks again for all the help.

There are a few answers to your question. I’ll start out easy. You can fax a document in WORD directly by doing this: go to PRINT, then change the printer to FAX. You can save it in the usual WORD format.

This will open up the FAX CONSOLE which is self explanatory.

The faxing “magic” is when you get to PRINT. Where it normally shows the name of your printer, click the drop down box and select FAX. So, the answer to your question about PDF or JPEG is to go to PRINT then select FAX.

I assume you have a telephone line connected to your computer. You will need to have that. I use one line for my faxes and calls.

When I get an incoming call, my computer shows “TO ANSWER THIS CALL AS A FAX CALL CLICK HERE”. If I know it’s an incoming fax, I’ll click it. This opens the Fax Console.

Another way to find fax console is START, PROGRAMS, ACCESSORIES, COMMUNICATIONS, FAX.

Check it out.

Keep me posted.

Okay thanks again man. I opened a Word document, went to the print option, but I did not see any FAX option. Is this because my computer is not connected to a phone line right now? The only phone line I have is my MagicJack phone line, which is a digital line, not a land line.

Do I absolutely need a land line in order to be able to fax? Or can I use something like MagicJack. Thanks again for all the advice.

Do you have a modem card in your computer? I assumed you did. Sorry.

Go into START, CONTROL PANEL, SYSTEM, HARDWARE, DEVICE MANAGER and see if MODEM is listed.

And I don’t know anything about MagicJack.

And you won’t see a FAX option unless you click on the right side of the current printer name when you get to PRINT.

Hey sorry for taking so long to respond. I have a modem port where you can plug in a phone line jack. I followed your instructions and it says I have this modem: “Conexant D110 MDC V.9x Modem.”
