I am, although I work as a manager now. Short answer for favorites: best, the animals, worst, the people.

@syz: What is annoying about the people?

*That they put their dog out on a chain as a puppy and let the collar grow into their necks.
*That we euthanize puppies every spring for parvo because that $20 vaccine is just too much of an investment.
*That we have to listen to the “how do you sleep at night?” and “you have a moral obligation” every time an irresponsible owner gets an animal that they can’t afford to properly care for.
*That we get innumerable “my dog’s having puppies right now, what do I do and what should I expect?” calls when they’ve had 63 days to do some reading.
*That those same people have acquired a poor quality, nasty tempered “purebred’ which they are now breeding, “cause they’re gonna get rich selling puppies”.
*That they won’t get medical treatment for the “neighborhood cat” that they’ve been feeding for 6 years because it’s not their pet.

I could give you a list of things that people have done to their pets that would turn your hair gray. There are plenty of generous, caring, responsible pet owners out there, but they’re not the ones that we remember. The ones that stay with us are the horror stories and the assholes.

OH. MY. GOD.

All of those things are absolutely horrible.

I was afraid that I was one of the annoying people that vets don’t like because I am over-worried. Like, if one of my cats is spending the day at the office because she’s getting a routine procedure done, sometimes I call multiple times during the day to find out if she’s doing ok.

I guess there are worse things people can do.
