Why won't my iPhone ring?

Asked by peggylou (1138points) June 6th, 2009

My iPhone has decided to stop ringing. The settings say that both the vibrate and ringtone are working. The ringtone is on at the outside edge of the phone. The bell icon shows that the ring is also on. Help!

I found a few topics on Apple’s site that might help.

Here you go! 1, 2., and the iPhone User Manual

I hope that at least one of these can help you fix your problem. =)

Thanks so much, eambos! Resetting the iPhone worked! I should have thought to go to the Apple site myself. I could only focus on my problem. I appreciate your time and effort on my behalf!!

I have found that turning my phone off and then on again solves a whole lotta problems.

@basp Lol, sounds like a windows PC. “Have you tried restarting it?” I guess it’s the “cell turning into a laptop” thing.

Try the switch on th right side, just above the volume control. It probably got switched off.

I had this problem for over 3 months and I thought that my phone broke.
I got it solved today (Thanks to Fountainboater!). I might have switch the sound off by not knowing what is that switch is for. Now, I know. I’ve been using without ring tone for 3 months and missed so many calls. I’m a free man.

Swipe up from the bottom of the phone. If you see an icon that looks like a moon – that is the do not disturb icon. Turn it off and your phone will ring again. Took me forever to find this out!
