You should sit down with your favorite acoustic albums and emulate strumming patterns that you like. Then you will find your own rhythm along the way.

It’s difficult to illustrate or describe a rhythm pattern or a picking pattern without graphics or a diagram. I agree with @Russell_D_SpacePoet and I would add try to find the main beat of the song.
