Does anyone know of an easy way to export phone format preferences in OSX?

Asked by whitenoise (14157points) June 22nd, 2009

I am using OSX and its address book. In the address book preferences pane, I have defined a large number of formats on how to display and break up various (international) phone numbers. (eg +“1 (###) ### ####”, ”+44 ### ### ####” and ”+31 ## ### ####” and ”+31 25# ### ###”)

This list has grown over time and I am now quite happy with the ability of my apple to correctly break up various numbers the correct way.

I recently bought a new macbook and wanted this one to have the same list. I could copy the list by hand, but would hope for a better way. So far I have not found that.

help will be greatly appreciated!

You can export your address book list and email it to yourself. Or, you could use mobileme if you have an account.

These are the instructions for exporting your address book.

I also forgot – Library > Application Support [or some such] > Address Book > .pref file is what contains your format preferences. Just drop that file into the new mac.
