Is there a free PC system cleaner out there?

Asked by Blondesjon (33994points) July 11th, 2009

I’m looking for something that not only cleans my registry but also fixes driver and file errors. Did I mention I’d also like it to be free?

I am running Windows Vista.

Formatting your computer is best. It cleans everything and you already own the disk’s.

I try and do it atleast once or twice a year to clean crap out of my computer.

CCleaner is the greatest program out there for something like this. I run it once a week, and it keeps everythig working like new.

I don’t have the link, but google should provide it.

@Blondesjon It’s pretty sweet. I usually run it a few times a week and gets rid of a crapload of stuff.

Is there a free good cleaner for Mac?

eambos's avatar

Cleanapp and Onyx seem very similar.

And I thought Macs didn’t need any housekeeping…~

@eambos only dumb people think they are perfect, I think they are good.

@willbrawn ask Steve Jobs, I’m sure he’ll sell you something for a couple hundred bucks. =)

@willbrawn , please try posting a new question next time!! i was confused when i saw mac apps in the answer although blondesjon is running vista

@Blondesjon , i swear by Vista Manager by Yamicsoft. Its a paid software, but I scored a free copy. I’m sure there must be some free lite version of it, or atleast a trial, and since you only need to use these apps once in a year or less, a limited time trial of a week would also be good enough. Vista manager has like 20 different utilities so it can handle ALL tasks…and theres a wizard where you can run all the tasks sequentially automatically
its awesome!

but CCleaner ofcourse is very famous although it has a somewhat more limited feature set. theres a lot of apps out there that handle specific tasks, but when it comes to clearning apps, i want an all-in-one, coz it doesnt make sense loading your pc with a hundred different utilities for each cleaning task when you’re trying to get rid of junk apps and stuff in the first place!!

And the spammers arrive!
