Multilevel marketing scam.

It is an acai berry drink. The marketing theory is that acia berry is a very powerful antioxidant however research has shown that it is not a particularly good (red wine is better for example)J Agric Food Chem. 2008 Feb 27;56(4):1415–22

A glass of fresh fruit juice a day is good for you (if its not apple juice then its even better for you) but don’t go buying expensive stuff just because some marketing bod told it was the elixir of life.

Acai berry is the new queen bee pollen, which was the replacement for the Kombucha mushroom (the fungus amongus) which followed the notion that smoking was good for your health. Buyer beward.

My wife has a bottle in the fridge that she bought from her pilates studio. She quit drinking it after a couple weeks. They keep trying to sell her more
though…

if you want good fruit juice, buy a juicer and make your own. That way, you control what goes into it, and you actually get some pulp and fiber, and there is nothing added that you don’t want added. The only drawback is you have to drink it up every couple of days, or make it fresh each time. My juicer is the Jack LaLanne Power Juicer Pro, cost $148.00 at Super Target. Worth every penny, high quality stainless steel body and a very powerful motor.

I have created some fantastic fruit combinations. Tart apples + sweet bosc pears, carrot + celery juice, watermelon + muskmelon + honeydew melon, and my favorite green grapes + red or black grapes.

One annoying issue with all juicers is the difficulty of cleaning them; the pulp (or fiber) gets into every niche, crevice and cranny. I used to spend a lot of time cleaning mine with a toothbrush. Now I just eat some raw carrots, celery, melons and grapes.

@gailcalled the juicer I have is pretty well designed. there are only five major parts, everything rinses clean, and a decent stiff bristle brush clears out the steel mesh strainer pretty darn easily. I can clean my juicer in about five minutes, and that’s doing it without rushing.

there are some fruits and veggies I can’t eat raw due to my lack of lower teeth. I wear dentures, but I hate the lowers as they don’t stay in like they are supposed to, so I don’t wear the damn things.

@evelyns_pet_zebra: Yoicks. I will now double my flossing efforts. (Does that mean no fresh corn?) Thanks for the brand tip. Can you put the parts in the dish washer?

When I was seeing a nutritionist, he suggested one glass of carrot juice every day. That was about 8 carrots worth, so I guess it was more bang for my bucks.
