Meta Question

I asked a question that was deleted. Why?

Asked by Deepness (1145points) August 5th, 2009

I asked Flutherites to give me info on San Francisco. In the details I asked for some specifics about neighborhoods and some comparison to NYC and rent.

I received an email saying my question was too vague and that it needs more detail. I editted the question but didn’t add anything as I’m at a loss for words. I can’t find the question here anymore.

There were a few very helpful answers there that people posted. I didn’t even get a chance to read them. Flutherites didn’t think my question was vague. They were giving me some very valuable input.

I am pissed.

Your best bet is to ask a mod.

I was one of the answerers and didn’t think it was vague either. Mods are just people doing their best for free… don’t be pissed. :)

Funny you should mention this! Yesterday a question I had was sent back for editing. I edited. Still it wasn’t put out. I tried reaching someone through “Contact” since yesterday yet no one is answering.

@ragingloli – you wouldn’t be biased in any way would you?

Mods are people. They get over loaded sometimes. Mistakes get made sometimes. It happens. I had a question about the badge contest and have not heard back yet that was a few days ago.

I am pretty sure it is a specific act by all of them against just me…..wait. could it just be that they are trying their best and shit happens?

I am betting the latter.

I thought it was a regular fluther question – we get a lot like that…I was going to answer as well…tell you about this tattoo I got in San Francisco and even post these amazing pics…

everyone has a little snacks inside them.

There are a lot of San Francisco questions and a lot of us SF-lovin’ jellies. so if the question was too general we would have written pages and pages. Be more specific like where should I stay in San Francisco, the Tenderloin or Sunnydale? That way instead of an omnibus question you will have several smallre ones to ask over time.

[mod says] Since the time you returned your question without changes, no mods were available to respond. You should have something from us now that will help you edit it and we’ll get it back up.

@Quagmire Let me look into it… I don’t see anything from you in the queue at the moment. I’ll get back to you.

@Bri_L Can you send that email about the badge contest again? I don’t see that one, either.

@Quagmire Check your PMs for an answer.

Quagmire's avatar

@augustlan, got it! Thanks from me as well. I responded to you BTW.

You are both most welcome! BTW, next time it would be better to PM a mod (or all the mods, just in case) than post a question about a moderation issue. Thanks!

Quagmire's avatar

I sent two, maybe three, messages through “CONTACT” on the top of the window and got no response.

I know I already PM’d you about that @Quagmire, but for the sake of anyone else reading… I haven’t been getting your emails, or @Bri_L.‘s I think there may be a bug. I’ve sent a message to Ben, and hope to have the issue sorted out soon. Thanks for your patience everyone!

There you go, it was due to moderators not being online. They are humans, after all. Don’t attribute to malice that which can be attributed to moderators not being online… or do, but you’ll keep being pissed off I fear.

@dynamicduo – couldn’t have said it better myself lurve
