What's the cheapest way for a Natural Gas producer to store NG?

Asked by marcosthecuban (429points) August 19th, 2009

The typical Natural Gas storage operation is a massive multi-million dollar storage facility- many times located where underground storage is practical. But, is there a way for NG to be stored near where it’s produced and in cost-effective way?

You may find this paper interesting. The author proposes the use of inert CO2 as a cheap cushion for underground natural gas storage.

@Marina thanks. right now, i’m trying to help a friend who runs a small NG production company in texas find a way to store the NG on his land and not sell it (prices too low). wondering if there’s a company that would bring storage tanks to him and install ‘in line’ ?
