Why have all the trees died on the East side of Yellowstone Lake in Yellowstone Park?

Asked by kelly (1918points) January 15th, 2008

driving to/from the east entrance to the Park there are miles of dead mature trees, some from fire, but most seems to have died and dried.

I saw something about the volcanic activity that is underneath yellowstone. It was causing concern and they were trying to attribute that to the sudden death of trees and plant life.

I have know idea if you & I are talking about the same area or not. There is disease and fire damage through out the range as well.
