How much should a good 4/4 violin cost for a beginner?

Even for a beginner a good one will be upwards of 700–800 dollars. You could find one for 50–100 I’m sure, but it would not sound good at all and you don’t want to start learning the notes with a bad sounding instrument as that is what your ear will get used too.

I bought my handmade Amati Etude 4/4 violin about 1 year ago for $450 brand new with case, bow, and resin cake. and its pretty nice, sounds good and is a quality made instrument.
